Learn the basics of how to identify Roman small finds and coins and see common examples from the archaeology collections of Verulamium Museum. FEE: £25 members, £30 non-members

October 5 10am-3.45 Medieval and Post Medieval ceramics Grosvenor Museum Chester

This training session will focus on ceramics commonly found in museum collections and will look specifically at pottery forms, types, decoration, and what we can learn from them. Though it will largely concentrate on ceramics found in the North West region, it will develop useful skills for all museum archaeologists. More regional training dates will follow. December 1 10am to 3.45pm Archaeological Archives Duncan Brown, English Heritage, M Shed meeting room, Bristol

This session aims to take an in depth look at the issues surrounding archaeological archives in museums, including the principles behind the archive creation, compilation and access. FEE: £25 members, £30 non-members
